Michael Hussey – Former Australian Cricketer & “Mr Cricket”

Michael Hussey, affectionately known as “Mr Cricket”, is one of Australia’s most admired cricketers. Renowned for his consistency, determination, and encyclopaedic knowledge of the game, Hussey enjoyed a stellar international career after being a latecomer to the national side.

Despite debuting in One Day Internationals at 28 and in Tests at 30, Hussey quickly established himself as one of the world’s best batsmen. In 2006, he rose to become the world’s number one–ranked ODI batsman, cementing his reputation as a reliable and classy performer under pressure.

Before his international breakthrough, Hussey amassed over 15,000 first-class runs and served as vice-captain of the Western Warriors. He went on to play county cricket in England and was a fan favourite in the Indian Premier League with the Chennai Super Kings. Domestically, he finished his career with the Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League, retiring from all forms of cricket after BBL 2005.

Since retirement, Hussey has remained actively involved in the game as a coach, commentator, and mentor. His deep insights into leadership, teamwork, and resilience—drawn from a remarkable cricketing journey—make him a highly sought-after corporate and sporting speaker.
