About Stephanie
I am passionate about creating enterprises with generous, talented people, which equip those who live on the margins to transform their own lives and become leaders in their communities. This creates ripple effects which in turn brings about real and lasting change.
In 2006, after meeting 7 disabled women living in a tiny tin shed in the back streets of Katmandu, I wondered if somehow I could make a difference. With $200 in my pocket, I decided to invest in their skill development. 12 years later we have a team of over 50 staff and volunteers in Australia and over 5000 women have been educated, trained and employed. We have three enterprises which include a manufacturing business, cooking school, and tour company.
Our work has been internationally recognized, and most recently we were presented with a Responsible Business Award at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. This journey from a tin shed to the United Nations has taught me that every one of us can make a difference with good the right people around us to unite in a vision and the curiosity to understand the plight of others and how best to help.
► Our Focus:
To economically empower marginalised women through education, skills training and income generation while sharing our model with others and create meaningful travel experiences to inspire the difference we all can make.
► Our 10-day Immersions:
Our tours are small groups of like-minded people participating on life-changing adventures which enrich the life of both travellers and the local communities visited.
We visit world heritage sites and meet inspiring, resilient locals making a difference in their community in the areas of environmental issues, fair trade, and human trafficking and create time for participants to learn and share their skills to make an impact.
