One of Australia’s most respected sporting figures, Liz Ellis AO is renowned for her exceptional leadership, competitive spirit and ability to inspire others to achieve their best. A former captain of the Australian Diamonds and one of the greatest netballers of all time, Liz has successfully transitioned from elite athlete to acclaimed broadcaster, author, media personality and keynote speaker.
Across an outstanding 16-year international career, Liz represented Australia in more than 120 Test matches, captaining the Diamonds through one of the most successful periods in the team’s history. She led Australia to victory at the 2002 Commonwealth Games and the 2007 Netball World Championships, while also winning two World Championships as a player. Her remarkable consistency, resilience and leadership earned her widespread recognition as one of the game’s all-time greats.
Following her retirement from international netball, Liz established herself as one of Australia’s most respected voices in sport and the media. As an award-winning television and radio presenter, commentator, columnist and author, she has become known for her intelligence, warmth and ability to connect with audiences across all sectors.
A passionate advocate for women in leadership, gender equality and community wellbeing, Liz has served on numerous boards and advisory committees, contributing to the continued growth of Australian sport and the not-for-profit sector. In recognition of her outstanding contribution to netball and the community, she was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO).
