Singer/songwriter Rachael Leahcar’s dynamic range, explosive vocals and powerful performances have stunned audiences across the globe.
Rachael smashed Australian television records and was nominated for TV moment of the year in the AACTA Awards when 4.1 million people tuned in to watch her Blind Audition on the first season of The Voice (2012). With a career that has seen her release five consecutive top 10 charting albums, tour live shows to sold out audiences and travel to Italy to sing with Andrea Bocelli’s orchestra, Rachael has shown that she is capable of achieving anything despite being legally blind, now with less than 10% of visual function.
Rachael’s album, Shadows (2017), debuted at #5 on the Australian Album ARIA Chart. Shadows marks Rachael’s transformation from a shy teen to a strong young woman. Following the win of People’s Choice Pop Award in the South Australian Music Awards, Rachael embarked on her biggest tour yet of Australia with a focus on showcasing her songwriting skills.
Rachael has performed the national anthem for many events including the Slowdown and Adelaide 500 (aired on television nationally), toured a cabaret show about her life called Colours Of My Life, participated in SA Tourism’s campaign and released a single of an Ave Maria duet with The Voice (2017) artist and fellow legally blind singer, Lara Nakhle. In 2019, Rachael has performed at the Thebarton Theatre with the Hindley Street Country Club band to a sold-out crowd and completed Australian Radio School’s Intro to Radio course and Voiceover Workshop. She was also cast as Eve in her first feature film Standing Up For Sunny, alongside RJ Mitte, Philippa Northeast and Barry Humphries, which debuted recently at the Sydney Film Festival and has been nominated for a SPA ‘Film of the Year’ award with Cinema Australia giving it a top 5 film for 2019. She has also featured in a BONDS Australia ad campaign with her 8-year-old golden retriever RSB Guide Dog, Ella, ‘Bonded by sense’ and a documentary by Attitude Pictures New Zealand about her daily life, ‘Being Me’.
Rachael has just completed a tour of her Colours Of My Life show of Eastern Australian states and released her fifth consecutive charting album, ‘Together For Christmas’ just in time for the festive season, debuting at #2 on the Australian Independent Charts. This contains 14 tracks including 4 captivating duets, and is sung in 6 in different languages.
