Max Gawn is a professional Australian rules footballer who currently plays for the Melbourne Football Club. Gawn was picked 34th in the 2009 AFL Draft combine, however injuries unfortunately saw him miss the first two seasons, with Gawn eventually making his debut in 2011.
Gawn’s impressive ability to be able to ruck and play a key forward position, was what made him a huge success story. Gawn first made the All-Australian team in 2016 and is regarded as one of the best ruckmans in the league. He also had a sensational 2019 season where he averaged a total of 36 hitouts, and 12 to advantage per game, which was the most in the competition. His impressive season in 2019 saw Max be named Melbourne’s captain for 2020.
On top of Gawn’s passion for football, he also has a keen interest in wine and the wine industry, currently part owning the East End Wine bar located in the Melbourne CBD. Gawn is also quite the barista, with videos emerging of him creating some impeccable coffee art. His passion for the wine and coffee industry makes him a shoo-in for any coffee or wine related functions in the near future. In Max’s spare time he loves to ride his bike, play with his dog and watch cricket. Max also supports the My Room charity, which focuses on helping children with cancer and the expenses that come with it. Max has supported this charity for the last few years and always does as much as he can to give back to the community.
Max Gawn’s rise to captaincy in 2020 has created more opportunities for Gawn to improve his public speaking and is becoming more confident and efficient in front of people. His kind nature is also perfect for school and club functions.
Loyalty – Max has been situated at the Melbourne Football Club his whole career and his commitment to the club makes him the perfect person to talk about loyalty. Despite Max easily being able to chase money, his commitment to the club found him becoming the captain in 2020.
Determination – The rigorous position of a ruckman makes it easy for players to burn out, yet despite suffering multiple knee injuries at the start of his career, his determination to better himself and stick at it makes him excellent at discussing how to become mentally strong.
