Erin Phillips is one of Australia’s most accomplished and versatile athletes—a dual-sport superstar, trailblazing AFLW player, Olympic basketballer, and proud advocate for women in sport. In 2024, Erin was formally recognised for her extraordinary impact on Australian sport with her induction into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
Erin’s sporting career is nothing short of remarkable. She began as an elite basketballer, representing Australia in the Opals, winning Olympic silver (2008) and World Championship gold (2006), and playing professionally in the WNBA in the United States. Transitioning to football in her 30s, she quickly became a dominant force in the AFLW, helping to shape and elevate the league from its earliest seasons.
A two-time AFLW Best and Fairest winner, dual AFLW premiership player, and multiple-time All-Australian, Erin is admired not only for her elite skills but for her leadership, humility, and fierce determination. She captained the Port Adelaide AFLW team—following in the footsteps of her father, club legend Greg Phillips—and continues to be a powerful role model for girls and women in sport.
