About Danny

Danny Green is the only boxer from Australia to win four professional boxing world titles. One of the highest profile athletes in the country, Green’s laconic, affable laid back nature outside the ring belies his fierce and intense demeanor inside the ropes, his devastating power and aggressive instincts have earned him the well known moniker ‘THE GREEN MACHINE’.
A surfer from Perth’s Scarborough beach, Green left school to become a carpenter, and found his boyhood dream of becoming a world champion fighter a realistic possibility after nurturing and honing his power, intent and instincts, developing into a fighter of real substance.

Danny is highly respected in the community for his patience and willingness to engage his massive fan base, and more importantly for his philanthropy and help for people from all ages and walks of life. It is often stated that ‘his heart is as big as his punch!’

Danny has been a regular on our TV screens for the last decade, from live interviews on The Footy Show, The Project, a runners up position on the iconic Dancing With the Stars, to A Current Affair campaigning against violence in the streets, The Green Machine is the voice of the punters, always willing to lend a hand, looking after his young family, and working hard and enjoying his life to its fullest.

Green formed his very own promotional company, Green Machine Promotions back in 2002, and has incredibly promoted two of the biggest, most prestigious and highest grossing bouts in Australian boxing history. His company is universally recognized and respected as a very professional and integral outfit, putting on some of the premier boxing events that compete with anyone else in the world.

Danny’s story is one of triumph, despair, excitement and never say die! He has knocked many men out, and also been violently knocked out himself a few times in world title fights, and the one thing you can say about The Green Machine is that he has always had a dig, and done it with a grin, and this bloke will never die wondering.

2003 – WBC super middleweight title Montreal Canada …as a huge under dog, green is under fire early from the two time champion, and stems the tide in the third and fourth rounds, and comes on strong put to Lucas away in the sixth round with a classy and aggressive display. 2009 – Defends his world title against the eight-time world champion, future hall of famer, and universal superstar, and the legendary Roy Jones junior from the US at Sydney’s Acer arena. A five to one underdog. The Green machine shocks the millions around the world watching and the packed 18000-seat stadium in a crushing first round knockout. One of Australia’s most prestigious victories ever, and described by experts as the greatest ever on home soil. This crushing victory earns Green universal praise and recognition.
2010 – After two more defenses, green defends his title in Perth in a much-anticipated bout with the highly regarded, undefeated prospect from Las Vegas BJ Flores. Green dominates the bigger younger man in a grueling contest that solidifies his status as a universal commodity.

2011- Green then takes on an even bigger challenge, he challenges WBC cruiserweight champion, Poland’s Krystoff Wlodarchek, regarded as the premier fighter in that division with an amazing KO record and two world titles to his name. Many believed Danny was in serious trouble, and his bravery was too much. As a serious underdog once again, the green machine shocks everyone, and completely dominates the champ, and appeared to be working hard towards a fairytale fourth world title, only to be agonizingly KO’d with 15 seconds remaining in the second last round. Green customarily accepts his defeat with typical grace and raises the hand of the pole when the decision is officially announced.
2012- Danny decides to pursue his fourth world title by stopping tough American based Puerto Rican, former world title challenger Danny Santiago in five classic rounds of action in Perth.

2012- Reigning commonwealth cruiserweight champion and the number nine ranked heavyweight, New Zealand’s Shane Cameron is pitted against green for Danny’s former world title, the Ibo crown after the champion Antonio Tarver is stripped of the title for testing positive to steroids after a bout. Cameron is the much bigger man, but in front of a packed Hisense Arena in the city of Melbourne, The Green Machine delivers one of his finest, and most brutal of performances of his esteemed career, bullying and dominating his younger opponent to claim an Australian first, an historic fourth world title! In typical laconic fashion, Green’s reply to the interviewer after the fight when asked ‘what’s next for Danny Green?”, ‘I’m gonna be an Aussie and get on the cans with the boys!’.
