Steve Johnson is a premiership-winning AFL champion, Brownlow Medallist, and one of the most naturally gifted players of the modern era. Best known for his decorated career with the Geelong Cats, Johnson played 293 AFL games, winning three premierships (2007, 2009, 2011), the 2007 Brownlow Medal, 2007 Norm Smith Medal, and the 2011 Coleman Medal.
Renowned for his creativity, football intelligence, and composure under pressure, Johnson was a central figure in Geelong’s dominant era and is widely regarded as one of the game’s most instinctive and skilful forwards. His ability to perform on the biggest stage made him a fan favourite and a respected leader within elite team environments.
Following his playing career, Johnson transitioned into coaching, including time as an assistant coach with the Greater Western Sydney Giants, bringing a player-first perspective to high-performance culture and development.
As a speaker, Steve draws on his experiences from premiership success, individual excellence, setbacks, and reinvention beyond elite sport. His presentations focus on leadership, resilience, team culture, high performance, and thriving under pressure, delivered with honesty, humour, and practical insight that resonates well beyond football.
