Nathan Buckley, one of the most respected figures in Australian Rules Football, is a premiership-level athlete, Brownlow Medallist, AFL Hall of Famer, and elite leader whose insights into high performance, resilience, and leadership transcend sport. Across an outstanding 280-game AFL career, Buckley was recognised as one of the competition’s elite midfielders and captains, earning the inaugural AFL Rising Star Award, a Brownlow Medal (2003), Norm Smith Medal (2002), six Copeland Trophies as Collingwood’s Best and Fairest, and seven All-Australian selections — achievements that cement his legacy in the game’s history.
A natural leader on and off the field, Nathan captained the Collingwood Football Club from 1999 to 2007 and later served as senior coach for nearly a decade, guiding the club deep into finals football including a compelling 2018 Grand Final appearance.
Since retiring from coaching, Buckley has become a respected voice in media, providing strategic football analysis and commentary that reflects his deep tactical understanding and clear communication skills. He remains actively involved in the game as a commentator and was recently appointed to a senior coaching role with the Geelong Cats ahead of the 2026 AFL season.
