About Sam
A member of the Seven Network’s television sport broadcast team, Sam’s experience and multi-platform reach is unique.
Her first book, ROAR, is unparalleled; telling of the culture transformation generated by the AFL women’s league launch. Sam has been engaged nationally to discuss the phenomenon since ROAR’s 2018 release.
Sam is a co-host and boundary rider for Channel 7 AFLW broadcasts and she has been a regular on men’s AFL telecasts since joining Seven’s Saturday Night Footy team in 2013.
In 2018 Sam became a weekly guest on Seven’s flagship program, Weekend Sunrise. She broadcast cycling on the network’s record-breaking 2018 Commonwealth Games coverage.
A two-time Quill winner from the Melbourne Press Club, Sam’s reporting on the AFL and National Rugby League’s doping scandals was part of a Fairfax team entry that won a Walkley award.
In 2018 Sam won the prize for Best Reporting of Women’s Sport from pre-eminent sport-health body, VicHealth.
The Australian Sports Commission, AFL Coaches’ Association and AFL Players’ Association have also recognised her work.
Top corporates engage Sam as a keynote speaker, master of ceremonies and conference moderator. Clients in 2018 included the Australian Institute of Sport, National Gallery of Victoria, National Australia Bank, AirSpace Australia and David Jones.
A past member of the advisory committee to the board of netball’s Melbourne Vixens, Sam was a founding committee member for Stand Up Events. She was an inaugural ambassador for the Basil Sellers Art Prize and has represented Beyond Blue and FightMND.
Sam covered three Olympic Games for Fairfax and she has reported from the Tour de France on three occasions.
Sam spent ten years with Channel 10’s Before the Game, working with a team of Australia’s best-known comics and was memorable on the ABC’s popular Agony Aunts series.
Her radio experience includes Melbourne’s ABC 774, SEN 1116 and 3RRR.
