About David
One of Melbourne’s most respected legal authorities David Galbally QC has a profile amongst the legal fraternity, and the wider community, that is second to none. David is regularly called upon by Channel’s 7, 9 and 10, as well as top rating radio programs, to provide comment and expert opinion across a broad range of topics ranging from corporate governance, workplace relations, human rights, privacy and superannuation regulation.
Galbally has been referred to as “A shaper of opinion, thought and events”. During his career, David has been involved in numerous high profile trials including representing James Bazley (charged with the murder of Douglas and Isabelle Wilson and the conspiracy to murder Donald McKay), Demiran (charged over the bombing of the Turkish consulate in South Yarra), Alistair Lynch in the AFL drug case and the Mexican banker, Carlos Cabal.
He has held a variety of board appointments, including the Chairman of the Melbourne Knights Soccer Club and Board Member of the Collingwood Football Club. He is currently the Chairman of the Transport Workers Union and the TranSuper Superannuation Funds.
Over the years, David has become a highly sought after authority on the issue of corporate governance and has worked with many of Australia’s largest organisations. In his presentation ‘From the Boardroom to the Courtroom’, he discusses the processes, policies and laws that affect the way a company operates, to help divert them away from the many pitfalls associated with corporate conduct in today’s business environment. He is an excellent keynote or conference speaker; or for that change of format, an outstanding hypothetical or forum facilitator.
