As the former governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia, Bernie Fraser is able to demystify the intricacies of domestic and global economic trends. Focusing on the Superannuation industry, Taxation, and domestic economic policy, Bernie enables audiences to understand the big picture.
Educated at the University of New England and the Australian National University, Bernie Fraser joined the Commonwealth Public Service in 1961, spending time in Treasury, interspersed with postings in London as a Treasury representative, three years in the Department of Finance and three years as Director of the National Energy Office. He was then appointed Secretary to the Treasury, and five years later, the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia from 1989 – 1996.
Currently, Bernie Fraser is on the Boards of several Industry Superannuation Funds and has held the position of President of the Industry Superannuation Funds Association and Chairman of the Government Superannuation Office of Victoria. He has received Honorary Doctorates from the University of New England and Charles Sturt University. He is also an honorary Professor of Economics at the University of Canberra.
