About Ben
Ben Elias followed a magnificent Rugby League career with a highly successful transition to business. In a career spanning 12 years, Ben appeared a record number of matches for the Balmain Tigers. He represented New South Wales in state of origin 19 times, twice captaining the side, and played 12 Test matches for Australia.
Some of Ben’s awards include the 1988 Rugby League Week Player of the Year and the Dally M Hooker of the Year in 1995, 1988 and 1992. During his playing career Ben was also developing the foundations for a highly successful career in business.
Following completion of a Bachelor of Business, he began working in the marketing department for the Balmain Tigers. After two years as the Marketing Manager of the club, he worked for radio 2GB as the Direct Sales Manager, drawing over $3 million in revenue during the three and a half year period.
Ben entered the telecommunications industry in 1995, becoming Optus’ largest dealer within his first 18 months in business. His company then became the largest national dealer of Telstra Mobile Net.
Ben’s exposure to the media has made him an articulate yet laid back speaker, drawing on his experiences as an elite athlete and businessman.
