About Basil
After graduating from Murdoch University in 1993, Basil joined Channel Seven Perth as a final year cadet reporter.
He worked his way up to the position he holds today – senior sports presenter for Seven Perth, as well as a host and commentator for Seven Sport around Australia.
Basil hosts and commentates AFL matches for Channel Seven and is an integral part of the network’s Hopman Cup and Australian Open broadcast teams. To date, he has been to five Olympic Games for Channel Seven.
At the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games, Basil was behind the microphone for Steven Bradbury’s historic win in the 1000m Speed Skating, Australia’s first Winter Olympic Gold medal.
At the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics, he commentated at rowing events where Australia achieved multiple gold medals, as well as in canoeing and kayaking at the Beijing Olympic Games.
Back at home, Basil is a host for Channel Seven’s annual children’s appeal, Telethon.
He has worked in both AM and FM breakfast radio since 2001. After six years at 92.9 he moved back to AM radio in 2014 to co-host the 6PR Breakfast show with Steve Mills.
Basil is married to Amy and father of two beautiful girls, Ava and Chloe.
