Robbie Slater – Speaker Bio

Robbie Slater OAM is one of Australia’s most recognisable and respected figures in football (soccer) — a trailblazing player, national team representative, Premier League champion, author and media commentator whose journey resonates with resilience, global achievement and passion for the beautiful game.

Born in England and raised in Australia, Robbie began his career in the National Soccer League before forging an exceptional professional path across Europe, including stints with RC Lens in France and top-flight English clubs such as Blackburn Rovers, West Ham United, Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers. At Blackburn, he became the first Australian to win the English Premier League in the 1994–95 season — a milestone in Australian sporting history.

Robbie earned 44 caps for the Australian national team, represented Australia at the 1988 Olympic Games and played in the 1997 FIFA Confederations Cup. His leadership on the international stage and achievements at club level earned him induction into the Football Australia Hall of Fame and a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for services to football.

Since retiring from professional play, Robbie has become a respected senior analyst and commentator with Fox Sports, sharing his insights on the game and inspiring football fans nationwide. He is also the author of the autobiography The Hard Way, sharing candid reflections on his journey through elite sport.

As a speaker, Robbie connects with audiences through stories of determination, overcoming adversity, leadership, cultural adaptability and sustained performance at the highest levels — blending humour, authenticity and a deep love for sport.
