Dom Sheed

Dom Sheed is a former professional Australian rules footballer best known for his pivotal role in the West Coast Eagles’ 2018 AFL Premiership victory. Born on April 10, 1995, in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, Sheed began his football journey with Mines Rovers before progressing to Subiaco in the WAFL. His early promise was recognized when he was selected by the West Coast Eagles with pick 11 in the 2013 AFL National Draft.

Sheed made his AFL debut in 2014 and quickly established himself as a reliable midfielder. Over his career, he played 165 games for the Eagles, showcasing consistency and skill in the midfield.

His most iconic moment came in the 2018 Grand Final against Collingwood. With just minutes remaining and the Eagles trailing, Sheed took a crucial mark and kicked a goal from a tight angle, securing a five-point victory and the club’s fourth premiership.

Injuries plagued the latter part of Sheed’s career, including a ruptured ACL in early 2025, which limited his appearances. Despite these challenges, his contributions to the club remained significant. In July 2025, at the age of 30, Sheed announced his retirement from AFL football.
