About Rebecca

Rebecca Poulson is an award winning Author, Keynote Speaker and Family Violence Survivor Advocate.

Rebecca has met with the Prime Minister, The Premier of NSW and other minsters to advocate for changes in Domestic Violence systems. She is attributed by the Premier of directly changing domestic violence laws. She has been interviewed by and appeared in and on most TV channels in Australia and in every major newspaper. She has also had major interviews on radio programs around Australia.

She has a book Killing Love published Simon and Shuster in September 2015. Rebecca  is the Winner of the Australian Society of Authors 2014 Emerging Writers’ Award and the 2015 Varuna House Fellowship Prize and the 2015 Barnardos Great Aussie Book Prize.

Rebecca’s story was one of the worst Domestic Violence tragedies Australia has experienced. A powerful, unforgettable story about tragedy, grief – and hope

On the day of Rebecca Poulson’s 33rd birthday, her father, niece and nephew were murdered. The murderer had been part of her family – her brother-in-law, Neung, the father of the children. No stranger to shocking grief, Rebecca had already suffered the suicide of her beloved brother, Adrian, but nothing could prepare her for the events that would unfold at the hands of Neung.

Rebecca’s writes and speaks of her journey through suicide, and homicide – the deep grief, the police investigation, the intense media scrutiny, the court case, the moments of great despair – and of her healing. Killing Love is  a story of individual heartbreak and a family’s strength, and a startling portrait of family violence. It’s also an unputdownable journey through tragedy and how Rebecca refused to let it define her, telling her story of recovery with striking honesty.

Rebecca is a double degree holder in Economics for the University of Sydney and Science from the University of New England. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant and registered Naturopath and counsellor. Rebecca’s passion has been writing and speechcraft from a young age, however, she took a detour through a career in Investment Banking, Funds Management, Change Management and Project Management for large Finance companies in Sydney.
